A. J. Johnson Partners with Mid-Atlantic AHMA for Training on Affordable Housing – February 2026
By A.J. Johnson
In February 2026, A. J. Johnson will partner with the MidAtlantic Affordable Housing Management Association to host a series of live webinars for real estate professionals, particularly those in the affordable multifamily housing field. The following sessions will be presented:
This practical, straight-talking webinar equips property managers with the knowledge they need to navigate immigration enforcement issues confidently and legally. Participants will learn how ICE and other federal agencies operate, what authority they actually have on private property, and—just as important—what they don’t have the right to do. The session breaks down critical differences between judicial warrants and administrative ICE documents, outlines when access can be denied, and explains how to protect resident privacy without obstructing law enforcement. Real-world case studies demonstrate proper responses to raids, subpoenas, and information requests. Attendees will also receive step-by-step response protocols, guidance on staff training, and ready-to-use policy templates. The focus is risk management: avoiding fair housing violations, preventing privacy breaches, and minimizing liability while maintaining professional cooperation with authorities. If you manage rental housing, this training provides the legal clarity and operational tools you need in today’s fast-changing enforcement environment.
This training is designed primarily for site and investment asset managers responsible for site-related asset management. It is especially beneficial for those relatively inexperienced with the tax credit program. It covers all aspects of credit-related on-site management, including the applicant interview process; determining resident eligibility (income and student issues); handling recertification; setting rents (including a full review of utility allowance requirements); lease issues; and the importance of maintaining the property. The training includes problems and questions to ensure students fully comprehend the material.
This live webinar provides focused instruction on the required methods for calculating and verifying income, as well as determining asset values and the income they generate. The first part of the course provides an in-depth discussion of employment income, military pay, pensions and Social Security, self-employment income, and child support. It concludes with workshop problems that test participants’ learning and reinforce HUD-required income calculation techniques. The second part concentrates on the detailed requirements for determining asset value and income. It applies to all federal housing programs, including the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, tax-exempt bonds, Section 8, Section 515, and HOME. Various asset types are discussed, including what qualifies as an asset and how they should be verified. This section also concludes with problems that test understanding of the basic asset-related requirements.
These sessions are part of a yearlong collaboration between A. J. Johnson and MidAtlantic AHMA, designed to equip affordable housing professionals with the knowledge to manage the complex requirements of various oversight agencies effectively.
