A. J. Johnson will participate in the Mid-Atlantic Affordable Housing Management Association (AHMA) 30th Annual Fall Conference, scheduled to take place in Richmond, VA, from November 18-2, 2025. This year marks a significant milestone: Mid-Atlantic AHMA is celebrating 30 years of its Annual Fall Conference! The journey began in 1995 when the organization, then known as the Virginia AHMA, partnered with Virginia Housing (formerly the Virginia Housing Development Authority) to launch a pioneering one-day Affordable Multifamily Rental Housing Conference. This event was the first and remains the only conference in the Mid-Atlantic region solely dedicated to addressing the challenges faced by those who manage and maintain affordable multifamily rental housing communities.
Over the years, the conference has evolved and expanded, yet its commitment to providing exceptional, affordable training remains at the heart of its mission. This year’s Fall Conference is no exception, and I am proud to be part of this enduring tradition.
Highlights of the Conference
With the change in the Federal Administration, we are seeing a major turnover and “drain” at HUD, programs facing potential funding cuts or even elimination, and increased scrutiny of any signs of waste, fraud, or abuse within the affordable housing sector. Housing management professionals, including those working in the relatively stable LIHTC sector, must remain alert to shifting priorities and policy changes while carefully focusing on their core duties.
For three decades, MA-AHMA has been a reliable partner, providing clarity and guidance the industry needs to navigate both everyday life and challenging times. The sessions scheduled for the first day of the 30th Affordable Rental Housing Conference are designed with this purpose in mind and are relevant across all housing programs. The 2025 conference will provide a comprehensive overview of industry trends. It will feature sessions created to strengthen essential business skills and foundational knowledge applicable in various settings, ultimately enhancing the work performance of affordable housing professionals. Don’t miss this chance to strengthen your expertise and prepare for the challenges ahead!
